More Than Building Businesses—We’re Building a Legacy

Legacy Building Through Our Relationships

If we take a moment to look back over our careers, we can often name a woman who inspired and encouraged us to be something more on our journey as women in business.

Who set the stage for your growth?
Who opened doors of opportunity?
Who said the hard thing that activated your passion to do more?
Who embodied an example of what was possible?

Maybe the woman who comes to mind not only invested their time and attention but also their connections, money, and emotional capacity.

Time and money are precious, but building a legacy of generosity goes much deeper.

Legacy Building Through Grantmaking

When we invest in a woman-owned business, we see the mission they carry leading us all into a better future; one that honors our common wellbeing.

Dennise, our 2025 Jackie Wurm Grant recipient, has built her business around a deeper definition of “health” not only in Minneapolis but internationally. Through fresh, organic foods and fair-trade Colombian coffee in compostable containers, her business Bom Dia Treats supports safety for workers across the supply chain, reforestation efforts, reduces carbon footprints and fosters wellness through fitness and community events.

Legacy building through Economic Investment

For every dollar we invest in a businesswoman, the impact creates a ripple effect of stability for:

  • A woman-owned business that employs and develops young people

  • A woman in advocacy who identifies and removes barriers for everyone to thrive

  • A woman in leadership that paves the way for those that come after her

  • A woman highly invested in the future of her community that organizes food drives

  • A woman who mentors others while also seeking mentors to continue her own growth

When women have agency and opportunity to build wealth and make decisions about where they invest their money, the ROI is astronomical. Statistically, we see women in Minnesota investing up to 90% of their income back into their local economy.

A Dynamic Duo: For-Profit and Non-Profit

Having access to The BWC and TCC support systems providing education, accountability, and removing financial barriers has empowered these same women to continue in the face of adversity.

Whatever you’re feeling you know that other businesswomen are feeling the same thing. There is this immense feeling of community and that you’re not alone. Even just having that validation is huge. I think it’s so important right now that we focus on empathy and psychological safety, to have peers you can lean on, ask questions of, and keep growing your network.
